An Analysis of the “Sudden Drill Paradox” Abstract: The “sudden drill paradox,” also known as the “unexpected exam paradox,” the “unexpected hanging paradox,” and so on, is briefly sorted through and analyzed here in nontechnical language. The inferential premises and steps that may lead to the paradox are reexamined, and an attempt is made to offer a way of understanding the paradox.
