    Yilin’s Little Retreat

I had often wanted to find a blog other than Yeku as a secondary base—both for backups and to hide some things as well as add some things. In short, changing the style a bit might well be interesting. But after checking out various blogs, I all felt that I wasn’t used to them (I’m the sort of person who gets used to something and then can’t be bothered to change), and in the end I gave them all up. Recently I saw that Yeku allows one user to register two blogs, so I casually registered one, and then just as casually went over to Bokee and registered one there…

In ordinary times, one should write more blog posts as an outlet

Yesterday in the ontology seminar, we were chatting about writing academic papers. Lao Yang said that a certain junior female student’s homework papers — and, incidentally, mine too — contained a lot of personal, experiential material, and thus might seem very good and highly original to some teachers, while receiving very, very low grades from others (Lao Yang was definitely thinking of my grade in metaphysics class… ). On the other hand, there are some people who know how to write and produce papers that are proper and standard, and no matter which teacher reads them, they can still get a high score. That is indeed so. A good paper…

    Is “Xincai” Being Released Again?

I heard that the junior and sophomore members still want to keep *Xincai* going, and I’m overcome with mixed feelings. As a veteran of *Xincai*, I always feel I ought to say something, but when the words come to my lips, I don’t know where to begin. So let me just offer a few random reflections. I dug out from my computer the six issues of *Xincai* that I laid out: November 11, 2004; December 1, 2004; December 31, 2004; March 21, 2005; April 30, 2005; May 30, 2005. Doing *Xincai* may have been the most meaningful thing I did in my first year of college, because through *Xincai* I…

    The 400th blog post~

From the 200th blog post to this 400th one (the counter on the right side of the page is malfunctioning; besides, I also counted a few private posts), it has been exactly one year.   At that time the blog’s word count had already passed 500,000; now it probably ought to be breaking one million. But at present I can no longer export a backup file, and I wonder whether this is a common problem or simply because my blog has become too large.   This year has been, quite precisely, the worst one in my life in spiritual terms, and I have been sinking deeper and deeper. Only recently…

On the Discussion on the Teachers’ Blogs: The Dirty Books Sold by the Dangdang Online Bookstore

Dirty Books Sold by Dangdang Online Bookstore 2007-03-19 09:38:15 http://blog.sina.com.cn/u/485ea879010007ez#comment I’ve been a longtime customer of Dangdang Online Bookstore, having purchased books worth several thousand yuan there. According to Dangdang’s existing records online, I have 20 orders in all on Dangdang, of which 19 have been completed, with total spending amounting to 3,225.6 yuan. But recently a very dirty book was delivered in an online book purchase (see below). Earlier, a book that had been soaked in water was also delivered! For Dangdang to treat customers like this is truly not decent. This book was mixed in with a batch of books I bought from Dangdang at the same time,…

    The First Snow of 2006.

Suddenly, so many feelings surged up. I opened the blog, ready to write. And then I found that I was too lazy to write it after all…… Latest comments unic 2006-12-31 23:47:20  “Such feelings may yet be worth recalling later, but at the time one only feels bewildered……” “If you find that you’re too lazy to write it……” — if I analyze that a little, it means you don’t value it enough~~ Write it anyway; what’s the harm if it becomes stream-of-consciousness? No worries, this kind of thing can also be written in a non-public way, heheheehee…… I hope that when the first snow of 2007 comes, you’ll write something….

    Spoofs, Media, and Random Reflections

The biggest advantage of being in Shanghai is being able to enjoy air conditioning; the second is being able, now and then, to watch the TV news. I just saw two news items that were rather interesting. One was the “first blog lawsuit in China,” saying that an associate professor at some university had sued Blogcn because, in a certain blog post, someone had insulted him and attacked him personally by name…… In fact it was just a little log entry of three to five hundred characters, with a title like “Rubbish Book, Rubbish Person” or something of the sort. It said: today there’s an exam, so hurry up and…

I Must Go into Seclusion and Cultivate Myself for a While!

My writing has become far too much! With the accumulation I have at present, I really ought not to be writing so much. I need to rein myself in a bit. No need for my teachers to remind me; I’ve begun to wake up to it myself.   The clamor of this age is also reflected in writing—I quite agree. The things I am writing now, apart from assignments and internal exchanges, are mainly written for myself to read. I feel that writing down certain thoughts is very different from merely imagining them in my head; in the process of writing, I can see my own ideas more clearly. Sometimes…

    The 200th blog post~

2005-07-31 14:45 The first post, “Philosophy of the Starry Sky,” marked the founding of this blog. On 2005-12-29 at 19:48, less than five months later, I posted “My 100th blog post” And again, less than five months later, this is my 200th blog post. (Some posts have been set to hidden by me.) A Call for Submissions for “Gongqingyuan”~~

Sender: EPR (Xingding), Section: Philo Subject: About submissions for “Qingqiuan”~~ Posting station: Peking University Weiming Station (Tuesday, February 14, 2006 10:59:42), internal message  Submissions for the 40th issue of “Qingqiuan” have long been solicited in secret, and because of my negligence I never posted an ad… It had originally been planned to put out an issue after the winter break ended, but that now seems rather difficult; still, I will do my best to rush it out, and the plan to publish two issues this year has not changed. The next issue of “Qingqiuan” may be organized around a special topic, but this issue has no fixed theme. Any…
